Orthopaedic Trauma

U.S. military personnel are particularly vulnerable to orthopaedic injuries sustained during combat-related activities. These injuries tend to be very complex, involving multiple tissues such as skin, bone, muscle, cartilage, and nerves. Further, our warfighters often sustain these injuries in remote areas without access to optimal acute care facilities or capabilities. Orthopaedic injuries in these settings often involve multiple limb trauma, open fractures, major tissue loss, and wound contamination. Tier Seven is seeking dual-use technologies that have the potential to improve the prevention or treatment of traumatic orthopaedic injuries.
